Google Art Analysis Project - Day 1

Class-
In the coming days you will compose an analytical writing piece on a painting from the Google Art Project. Your piece will be submitted electronically (via the class blog).

Today: begin looking through the Google database and look for images about which you would like to write. Save the images that you like to your “Gallery."
What to look for: works with a variety of compositional elements that you can analyze. As you look at the paintings, also look over your composition vocabulary handout.
Though you may enjoy the appearance of abstract art, these works can be tricky to write about in terms of symbolism, themes, and composition.  For this reason, I recommend choosing a work that depicts human forms, tells a sort of story, depicts a landscape or recognizable objects, etc.

By next class (Friday), you need to have chosen an image. Respond to this post with the following information:
1. Painting Title
2. Artist
3. URL (hyperlink) to the work (from Google Art Project)
4. A short justification for your choice: why did you select it? What draws you to the painting?
5. A two-or-three sentence description of the painting. Be as detailed as possible: use adjectives, adverbs, and vivid word choices.
6.  Your first name or initials (no full names).

It is a beautiful drawing of a bridge, showing the transportation to a destination. Its black and white shows the vintages of the bridge

The bridge that takes you to brooklyn, and it is black and white. They show the way into too BRooklyn, and ways into other places.

    4. The painting that I chose is very interesting. I chose it because I live in the city of Atlanta and I thought it was a cool way to show the progression of a major city.
    5. The painting I chose is a very cool way to show how the city of Atlanta has changed over the years. On the top of the painting it shows the bright lights and big buildings of a modern city. On the bottom of the painting it shows the old city of Atlanta, a rural town with smaller buildings.

    4. The reason that I chose this picture is because of the colors. The colors explain the mood of the picture and I find it very interesting how the artist used them. There are warm but cool colors to show happiness but sadness.
    5. The painting has warm colors that represent warm colors. Warm colors symbolize happiness. The picture also has cool colors that symbolize sadness. The man screaming stands out because of the colors. The different colors justify what is what.

  8. Frozen Assets 1931 By Diego Rivera
I chose this painting because I think I can analyze this painting. This is because it has a lot of aspects that I can look to compare or contrast against one another.
The painting itself has three different sections to it. The top section has tall buildings and a lot of industrialism. The middle section is gray with a man in it. The bottom section has gates, a man, and a woman behind the gates, many people in the room, and a man sitting behind the desk.

    3) http://www.googleartproject.com/collection/the-nelson-atkins-museum-of-art/artwork/migrant-mother-nipomo-california-dorothea-lange/391042/
    4) I chose this painting because the dark colors caught my eye. The black and white colors reveal the artists gloomy tone
    5) This painting features a mother and her two sons. The mothers hand is rested under her chin and her face looks full of sorrow. The two boys are laying their heads on their mothers shoulder and they look depressed.
