"The Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh

This painting is called “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. This piece of artwork depicts a beautiful starry night over a small city. This painting has an abundance of convoluting lines throughout the whole painting. In the foreground, there is a bold, umber bush providing a focal point. Next, in the midground there is a cluster of small, geometric houses with mountains made up of elegant lines and cool blue colors behind the houses. The background consists of loose lines, deep tones, and stars.
The stars in the background are big and circular. Bright, yellow, and luminous, the stars provide great contrast to the deep tones of the night sky. In the background, behind the stars, there are a great deal of curving lines. These different shades of blue twisting lines add an animated texture to the painting. The bush, standing vertical in the foreground, draws the audience’s eye to it. Also, the vertical lines add contrast to the horizontal lines in the sky night. The sienna colors of the bush compliment the different shades and tints of blue in the background.
“The Starry Night” can be interpreted as a metaphor for the dreams and hopes of a perfect world. The stars in the sky are a symbol of the goals of the people in the town sleeping. The stars are big and bright, just like the dreams of the children sleeping in the houses. The clear sky is a metaphor for not having anything hanging over someones head because the sky has no clouds. The overall theme is the society’s image of an ideal world.

My painting is called “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. This painting has a lot of convoluting lines everywhere. In the foreground, there is an umber bush providing a focal point. Next, in the midground there is a cluster of small geometric houses with mountains made up of elegant lines behind them. The background consists of loose lines, deep tones, and stars. Bright, big,and luminous, the stars provide a great contrast to the gloomy background.
